An evidenced based alternative to sleep training
At Nurtured Medical, our practitioners have been trained in Possums Neuroprotective Developmental Care, and follow these principles when assessing and helping you with your little one’s sleep. This evidence-based alternative to sleep training focuses on optimising a baby’s two natural/ biological sleep regulators. It does not promise to have your baby sleeping through the night, but rather the goal is for nights to feel manageable, without excessive night waking.
Our approaches to sleep support are founded in attachment- based parenting. We also prioritise supporting and promoting breastfeeding, and safe co sleeping if this is a family’s preference. We work with families to find solutions that align with your values, goals and context.
Nurtured Medical strongly believe in the Possums and co. philosophy and approach to sleep problems, and as such consultations usually focus on this approach, especially for infants < 6 months.
The Possums and co. sleep program approach is also successful and helpful for older babies, and a perfect place to start addressing sleep problems. Following this, our practitioners can also talk to families of older babies about night weaning (if age- appropriate), and other approaches to sleep problems, if appropriate.
All of our GPs and Holly have been trained in Possums and Co Neuroprotective Care.
Dr Eliza, Dr Ali, Dr Laavanya and Holly are currently enrolled in Dr Pamela Douglas’ new NDC accreditation program.
Lauren also intends to undergo NDC accreditation in order to support families with their babies’ sleep.

Package inclusions: Your appointment includes a thorough medical examination of your baby (to assess for a medical condition as a cause for sleep disruption) and an in depth discussion about your concerns. After the appointment you will receive a personalised report that includes a summary of what we discussed, our recommended plan and links to relevant resources. The package also includes <30 mins follow up in the practice or via video Telehealth consultation 1-2 weeks after appointmentAdditional follow up video telehealth consultations will incur an additional small out of pocket fee

Package inclusions: Your home visit includes a thorough medical examination of your baby (to assess for a medical condition as a cause for sleep disruption) and an in depth discussion about your concerns and other related questions you might have.
After the appointment you will receive a personalised report that includes a summary of what we discussed, our recommended plan and links to relevant resources. Package also includes a follow up video telehealth consultation <30 mins 1-2 weeks after home visit
Additional follow up video telehealth consultations will incur an additional small out of pocket fee

This in -depth package is the Telehealth equivalent of the other in-depth packages. It combines individualised and thorough support with the flexibility and convenience of Telehealth.
Appointment duration: 60 mins
Approx fee**: $220
Package inclusions: Your video telehealth appointment includes detailed history taking and if relevant, “examination” of your baby through the camera. After the appointment you will receive a personalised report that includes a summary of what we discussed, my recommended plan and links to relevant resources. Package also includes a follow up video telehealth consultation <30 mins
Additional out of pocket fee applies for follow up if baby >12 months

** Fees
Most of the appointments with our GPs (including shared medical appointments) are eligible for a Medicare Rebate (Medicare reimburses part of the appointment fee). Telehealth appointments are only eligible for Medicare rebates if you are a pre-existing patient of the practice OR if your baby is under 12 months old.
Private health insurance rebates may apply for non- Medicare-rebatable services.
Prices listed are approximate and indicate the out of pocket cost AFTER you have received your Medicare rebate. Please note that fees on hotdoc (online booking service) are for the upfront cost BEFORE the Medicare rebate.
If your family has reached the Medicare safety net threshold, Medicare will rebate significantly more of the upfront cost, and out of pocket costs are therefore significantly lower. The Medical safety net threshold only applies for our appointments that are eligible for a Medicare rebate.
